
ACTIVATE PROGRAM
The goal of the Activate Program is to enhance employment prospects within the film sector in Edmonton for BIPOC and equity-seeking filmmakers. This is achieved by providing wage subsidies for BIPOC crew members hired at $200 per day, for a maximum of 10 days between March 2024 and October 2024.

Who can apply for the Activate program:

Companies whose primary activity involves development, production and post production in the screen sector (inter alia, film, television, VF, animation, motion graphics, video, post production)

Applicants MUST have an upcoming project.

Applicants must have a clear vacant role on a project/production.

Applicants must have either,
-
a potential candidate from a BIPOC or Equity-seeking community in mind to fill a role on the project, or;
-
a job description for the position (BE Collective can assist with introductions to potential candidates for the role in question)

Your candidate must be from Edmonton or the Greater Edmonton Region.

Applicants may hire a candidate for a shadow position, as long as a simple accompaniment/learning plan is provided.
How will it work:

Applicants submit an application package

Jury will adjudicate the packages on a rolling basis and make selections at the beginning of each month from February to October 2024

Successful applicants will receive:
-
​A wage subsidy for their hire of $200 per day, for up to 10 days.

There is no requirement for you to supplement/match this funding, however, thisw ill add weight to your application.

Upon completion of the production, you and your hire must provide the following deliverables to BE Collective:

A mandatory survey completed by Applicant

A mandatory survey completed by your hire

Participate in an interview for BE Collective's best practices video

Provide BTS stills (and, if practicable, video clips) of your hire working on your project
