This video features the talented Lance Cardinal, an established Indigenous artist from the Bigstone Cree Nation in Treaty 8 territory. Lance is from the community of Calling Lake, Alberta, and is the embodiment of modern and traditional creativity. Lance’s work is drawing international attention and challenges us to think differently about Indigenous artistry and creativity.
Lance has just completed his second partnered project with IKEA, designing a showroom displaying a modern Indigenous family living space. The result is a powerful example of representation and reconciliation, creating a version of indigenous culture and identity that many Albertans don’t encounter in their day-to- day lives.
